When you first get one, you may need to update the firmware and Bluetooth if it hasn't already been done for you. You can do this with the supplied USB cable.

The 780 is really fast in locating the satellites. On your very first use it may take a few minutes, but after that you should be connected in under one minute.

Screen brightness is great for both day and night.

I recommend also geting a Friction Mount for holding your GPS so that you can easily store it away when you leave the car so there is no evidence that you own a GPS. The nuvi 780 fits easily into your pocket or purse if you want to take it with you for extra security.

Because it connects to real time live traffic reports, it will find the fastest route for you at peak hours or in heavy traffic offering alternative and much faster routes to your destination. If you choose a different route the one it has suggested it will quickly recalculate a new path in just a few seconds. A great feature if you want to go a particular way or choose the wrong turn by accident.

The volume of the voice controls are good and you can adjust them to your preferred audio volume. It will also guide you to get into the correct lanes within plenty of time so you don't miss any turn-offs.
